 This is the layout of my front cover. i need to improve this by adding my pictures and more covelines. i will put in the image when i take my picturs.

this is the layout that i have choosen for my contents page. i have choose to do it like this so people can see where to find all the information. i will add my pictures of my model to the page and the information that will be on each page of the magazine.

• The name Hip Hop Latest is too long won't be able to write the full name on the front of the magazine.

• £4.50 is a good price for the magazine 

Improvements from the comments 

• I had an option for the name to choose from Hip Hop Latest or Energy. I went with Energy because i was told the name was too long to put on the front of the magazine.
• I did not change the age group as i believe that the age group i choose is good for the hip hop magazine.
• i didnt change the price as it is a good price for the magazine. it is affordable for the age group i have choose as they will all be in work at that age and it will be a monthly magazine not weekly so they wouldn't be wasting so much money on my magazine.

Illustrator

In today's lesson i used Illustrator. it was a trial session to show us how to use the program. Illustrator helps with making masthead. 

I used Illustrator to make this masthead. i did this writing Hip hop and then applying a background to the text to make it look like it was written like that. The Image above shows a screen shot that i took. it shows how i experimented with the letters. i did this by pulling the letters to different places.

i will use this program for my masthead.

Magazine Evaluation

i wanted to achieve a magazine where students can read and find it useful. so they can look at a magazine and find out the key information such as holiday and all the trips that will be taking place. i think the layout i used for the font cover and the context page is good as people can see the righting and understand hat will be in the magazine and on the content page they can see were they have to look if they want to read a certain article. what i did bad is the colours i used for my front cover and the context page as they are not eye catching. 

My peers have said the front cover is missing some text to make the magazine look a bit more attractive and exciting and the masthead should be more bigger so it looks attractive. Context page is missing some text. The front cover look a bit empty.

i will improve my magazine by making the masthead bigger so its eye catching.  I will add brighter colours to my front cover and my context page so that its bright and colourful and so there is a strict colour scheme going on throughout the hole magazine. i will also add more texts to the front cover which are interesting so people will want to read the magazine.

I will improve my masthead so its eye catching. i may add a bit of colour to it so its bold. the backgroung colour should be a bit more bold and not a dull colour as it dont loo nice. i will fix this by having a colour which stands out i will also add more bold colours to my content page and front cover add more text and make the writtig bold. only write headings which people will want to read.

Distribution Methods 

Publishers are people who make the magazine. The four UK's largest publishers are  EMAP, Bauer, NatMag, Conde Nast and IPC. They control the editorial content and design of the magazine. Publishers have a specific network of distributors. The distributors take care of the magazines from the printer to the shops. sale and return is a method used distributors with newsstands. Any magazines and newspapers not sold are given back to the distributor and the retailer dont lose money. the retailer will benefit from this as there is no wastage involved. This will affect the publisher/distributor as this method affects the environment. Direct distribution is a popular method because its giving out free magazine/newspapers out. the magazine/newspapers make all their income from advertising. Subscription is a method which is cheaper. People get their magazines posted to them usually with a big discount. Online is a easy method as yo can view an electronic version of the magazine. For music magazines on the internet they put videos instead. some magazines have apps. They get there audience by putting it on social media.

XXL magazine does subscription to digital copies of the magazine. they do this so people can get the magazine monthly and not have to pay a lot of money. yes XXl do online version of there magazine so people dont have to have an actual hard copy of the magazine. they have similar content. they include extra content such .as videos. they dont do an easy version magazine. they have videos and more information on the videos that they wouldn't put in the hard copy of the magazine. they post about the magazine on social media eg facebook to get there readers and they post the monthly deals so people can see the difference between price. they do use social media to promote the people that will be in there upcoming magazine.

I have learnt how to put the mast head behind the image. i have used the rubber to rub some of the title of so that only a little bi can be seen.

XXL Magazine

I August 1997 Harris publications released the first issue of XXL. It features rappers Jay Z and Master P on a double page. It is a Hip Hop magazine. The cost of the magazine is £3.99. the magazine target audience is young adults.

The magazine name Is XXL. The main image is of the group 2016 freshman class. The image is a full body picture. They are all dressed in white. There’s a lot of lighting in the image as the front cover is very bright. Most of the men have gold chains on. They all have some kind of jewellery on. The masthead of the magazine is bold the background is red and the writing is white. The colour of the writing on the magazine is blue, pink yellow. These colours stand out as they are bright colours that go with the front of the magazine. By having the image covering the title it addresses that the audience of this magazine are regular buyers because you can’t see the whole title so people who are unfamiliar with the title won’t buy it. Different size fonts have been for the captions on the front cover this has been done to show the main article. The new wave stands out as the writing has blue around the text which allows people to think that its important. 

the contents page shows the main articles of the magazine. It has the same people from the front cover on the context page. The image takes up most the page. The name XXL is in the top left corner of the magazine. The background of the image is white the writing is black which allows the text to stand out in the image. The numbers on the page is red as they stand out to show they people. It is in a text box and gives information on what there is in the magazine. The contents page has the image in the middle of the page which covers most of the top part of the page. at the bottom of the page there is a box with text about what is i the magazine. what we see in the image is a group which look (22-30). they are all wearing white. the magazine is a music Magazine this is shown throw the image on the contents page as they are a group. there are headlines for each page that are black and they are bold and the numbers are red and bold.

The image above is a double page from the magazine. On the left page of the magazine is an image of DJ Drama. The image I amid shot. He is wearing a black top with a black cap this allows him to be the main focus as the background of the image is dual and he is bold. He has chain around him. On the right page the title is “WHO U WIT” this is the main title and people focus on the title to see if they want to read it. The colours that are used on this page is black and red. The colour of the background is white. The writing is in columns. the double page spread has a large medium shot that is on the left side of the magazine which is covering the hole page. this is what a lot of hard copy magazines do.  the headline is bold and  it is eye catching people are able to see it. the colours are bold.     


      There is a big paragraph under the subheading 'THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS'. The text is talking about a more deep topic that is why he looks a lot more vulnerable in the image, he is letting the                                        reader know him in a different light.

the audience for this magazine is 13-15-year-old girls (young teenagers). I know this because they include posters of Disney actors. At the bottom of the magazine they are showing all the poster in the magazine. The language that is used is informal. The do a lot of celebrity gossip where talk about what has happened in their lives. The mast head of the magazine “we love pop” does not follow conventions. Usually the mast head is along the top of the magazine however this masthead is in the top left corner. Which is how a customer could easily recognise the magazine. There are 3 cover lines on the right and on the left. This follows conventions as there are usually more cover lines on one side than another. However, the main cover line has the name of the artist in the font and capital letters. This attracts the audience’s attention as it stands out.

the contents page follows the rule of third. I know this because there is text on the left and in the middle and small pictures on the left. This shows that the page has been split into three to follow conventions. Also a smaller version of the mast head from the front cover appears in the corner of the page. A variety of shots have been used on this contents age.     the double page spared has simple layout. On the left side they have an article about Cher Lloyd and on the right hand side there is a long shot of the pop star.  On both side of the page the colour scheme is pink white and black which is very consistent.

XXL media kit analysis 

This magazine was first published in 1997 August. This magazine is based on Hip Hop. XXL magazine is the No. 1 selling music magazine on newsstands covering breaking news new sic and the biggest artists. other titles with limited runs have been lunched under XXL brands, including Hip Hop sou, eye candy. XXL has released many other special projects. The age range is 25-29. Ethnicity is a big part of this magazine as they base what they put in the magazine on culture music for certain backgrounds.

The magazine is published 11 a year. publisher is - town square media. Editor in chief Vanessa sattern and managing editor - Dan rhys. Ethnicity is a big part because of the artist background and the songs they sing.  this magazine stays with the latest trends as they are wanting more people to read there magazine and buy it.
