Illustrator

In today's lesson i used Illustrator. it was a trial session to show us how to use the program. Illustrator helps with making masthead. 

I used Illustrator to make this masthead. i did this writing Hip hop and then applying a background to the text to make it look like it was written like that. The Image above shows a screen shot that i took. it shows how i experimented with the letters. i did this by pulling the letters to different places.

i will use this program for my masthead.

i wanted to achieve a magazine where students can read and find it useful. so they can look at a magazine and find out the key information such as holiday and all the trips that will be taking place. i think the layout i used for the font cover and the context page is good as people can see the righting and understand hat will be in the magazine and on the content page they can see were they have to look if they want to read a certain article. what i did bad is the colours i used for my front cover and the context page as they are not eye catching. 

My peers have said the front cover is missing some text to make the magazine look a bit more attractive and exciting and the masthead should be more bigger so it looks attractive. Context page is missing some text. The front cover look a bit empty.

i will improve my magazine by making the masthead bigger so its eye catching.  I will add brighter colours to my front cover and my context page so that its bright and colourful and so there is a strict colour scheme going on throughout the hole magazine. i will also add more texts to the front cover which are interesting so people will want to read the magazine.

I will improve my masthead so its eye catching. i may add a bit of colour to it so its bold. the backgroung colour should be a bit more bold and not a dull colour as it dont loo nice. i will fix this by having a colour which stands out i will also add more bold colours to my content page and front cover add more text and make the writtig bold. only write headings which people will want to read.

Distribution Methods 

Publishers are people who make the magazine. The four UK's largest publishers are  EMAP, Bauer, NatMag, Conde Nast and IPC. They control the editorial content and design of the magazine. Publishers have a specific network of distributors. The distributors take care of the magazines from the printer to the shops. sale and return is a method used distributors with newsstands. Any magazines and newspapers not sold are given back to the distributor and the retailer dont lose money. the retailer will benefit from this as there is no wastage involved. This will affect the publisher/distributor as this method affects the environment. Direct distribution is a popular method because its giving out free magazine/newspapers out. the magazine/newspapers make all their income from advertising. Subscription is a method which is cheaper. People get their magazines posted to them usually with a big discount. Online is a easy method as yo can view an electronic version of the magazine. For music magazines on the internet they put videos instead. some magazines have apps. They get there audience by putting it on social media.

XXL magazine does subscription to digital copies of the magazine. they do this so people can get the magazine monthly and not have to pay a lot of money. yes XXl do online version of there magazine so people dont have to have an actual hard copy of the magazine. they have similar content. they include extra content such .as videos. they dont do an easy version magazine. they have videos and more information on the videos that they wouldn't put in the hard copy of the magazine. they post about the magazine on social media eg facebook to get there readers and they post the monthly deals so people can see the difference between price. they do use social media to promote the people that will be in there upcoming magazine.

I have started my magazine and the image above is the front cover. I will finish this off by adding more text and more colour.

I have learnt how to put the mast head behind the image. i have used the rubber to rub some of the title of so that only a little bi can be seen.
